Where do I begin? PeTA (People for the ethical treatment of animals) is a non-profit organization that works with animal rights. But, they go to the extreme and say that animals are not to be used for any reason at all. This includes animal testing, food, circuses, and even seeing-eye dogs. They call for "total animal liberation". Personally, I think they are a bunch of tree-hugging, crystal gripping hippies who really have a whacked sense of reality. They feel that the world would be a better place if ALL animals were free to live wherever they like. In their eyes, even animal testing to advance medical research is wrong. They say "Even if animal testing provided a cure for cancer, we'd be against it". I can't give a completely unbiased overview of them, but you can read about them on their site www.peta.org.

Everyone has a different reason for hating PeTA. As for me, it's the scare tactics they use to persuade children into thinking meat and milk are bad. They tell kids that fish will make them dumb, milk gives you pimples, and even that their parents are murderers if they fish or wear fur. They give out comic books that depict animals being tortured and hurt in ways that are not used in normal factories or labs. The propaganda they use is totally inapropriate for children. They use pictures of skinned animals to tell them about fur (when we all know that fur and leather are bi-products of meat and other industries)

I suggest reading some of the posts here and visiting other anti-peta sites such as www.peta-sucks.com and www.exposepeta.com for more information and to contact other people for their take on PeTA.

Thank you for your questions, I hope I could help to answer some of them.
